I Rx’d
I work out at my home gym. I love the solitude and my heavy metal music. If I were to be honest, my heavy metal music is heavier than the weights I lift. Last year was my first time doing the Open. I competed in the scaled category, and I was horrible. In my mind I had more excuses than the number of reps I did for why I sucked at it.
But knowing I was bad at gymnastics, endurance and Olympic lifting, I didn’t give up on doing the open in 2022. My attitude was to dive in head first. Stupid, but I knew the risks. When the Open announcement was made, I thought to myself, “fuck all, I’m doing Rx’d this year.” It was the bravest decision I made. I was never snatched with a 50lb dumbell or jumped over a 2 foot box not done 42 double unders.
By the end of the 3 weeks I did it all. Although I didn’t do as well as I most of the people out there, I did what I never thought I would. I am very happy that I Rx’d this year but super worried about having master handstand push-ups, pistol squats, barbell snatch before 2023, because this dadboddad is planning to Rx again.
